Welcome to the David Dawson Photography web site where David publishes his railway photographs on line for your viewing pleasure and appreciation. We hope you enjoy looking through the galleries.

We also offer for sale, exclusively through this web site prints of David's photographs of steam locomotives taken over the last quarter of a century on Britain's main lines and preserved railways.

The pictures may also appear at a later date featured in one of David's books, as part of a set of postcards, or on calendars. These pictures are not offered for sale anywhere else.

All prints printed on heavy weight photographic paper and printed to order.

All prints supplied print only, not mounted or framed.

Print sizes offered range from 6"x4" postcard size up to 20"x14" poster size, the maximum print size being determined by the size and film type of the original negative. All pictures are shot on film, the negatives are then scanned to produce excellent quality digital prints. Please see price list for current print prices.

Steam on Shed - a collection of David's pictures taken round the steam loco sheds of Britain over the last thirty years.

David's current work involves taking his pictures with vintage cameras that were around when these steam locomotives were in service on Britain's Railways. He is currently using Voigtlander and Fed rangefinders for 35mm work and Zeiss Ikon's and Agfa Isolette's for his medium format negatives. David's pride and joy is a Zeiss Ikon folding camera made in Dresden in 1938, which makes 6cm x 9cm negatives. The factory was destroyed in the wartime bombing of Dresden so this camera is a real piece of history. It is also older than some of the steam locomotives David photographs with it!

Steam Locomotives and Steam trains have been a passion of ours for over 30 years. We have extensive picture files covering British private steam railways and main line steam runs over the last quarter of a century. We are active photographers and will be adding to our collection of images on a regular basis.

We are members of the Severn Valley railway and are also frequent visitors to the Keighley and Worth Valley railway, North Yorkshire Moors Railway, and East Lancs railway among others, and so have an extensive collection of photographs taken on these preserved lines. David is an active volunteer on the Severn Valley Railway in the Kidderminster Carriage and Wagon department.
